Step 1: Prepare the Items
Clean and dry the medical instruments or materials to be sterilized. Package them using sterilization pouches, wraps, or containers suitable for steam autoclave use.
Step 2: Apply the Indicator Tape
Cut the steam indicator tape to the required length and firmly apply it to the outside of the sterilization package.
Ensure good contact with the surface so the tape adheres securely.
Step 3: Load into the Autoclave
Place the packaged items into the steam autoclave according to standard loading procedures.
Do not cover the indicator area to ensure proper exposure to steam.
Step 4: Run the Sterilization Cycle
Start the autoclave using a standard steam sterilization cycle (e.g. 121°C or 132°C).
During the process, the chemical indicator ink will react to heat and saturated steam.
Step 5: Visual Confirmation
After completion of the sterilization cycle, remove the packages and allow them to cool.The indicator stripes on the tape will change color from light beige to dark gray/black, indicating that the package has been exposed to proper steam sterilization conditions.
Step 6: Storage or Use
Store sterilized packages in a clean, dry environment or proceed with clinical use according to internal sterilization protocols.Packages without complete color change should be reprocessed.
